Hario Kabuto — Hand Grinder for Mountain Moments

Meet the grinder we keep clipped into the pack. The Hario Kabuto is compact, tough, and dial-happy — a little samurai of a grinder that’s been tested on windy trailheads, frosty car parks, and early roastery cuppings here in Hemsedal. We love it because it just works: smooth crank, consistent burrs, and a solid feel that doesn’t rattle your teeth at 06:00.

Why we chose to stock it? Function, form, and price.

  • Consistent stainless-steel conical burrs for clean, sweet cups.

  • Dial-in fast: easy external adjustment from pourover to moka — yes, it’ll go fine enough for espresso testing in a pinch.

  • Travel-ready build: aluminum body, sturdy shaft, and a comfy wooden knob that feels great with gloves on.

  • Trail-proof capacity: ~25 g — perfect for a big mug by the river or two neat cups at camp.

Our field notes
We’ve brewed with the Kabuto on skis, in a van, and at HQ. It rides well in a pack, doesn’t loosen mid-grind, and the cup clarity on V60 and Aeropress hits that bright-Nordic sweet spot we chase. Folks like us, drink coffee like this.

Specs at a glance
