The outcome in the cup can be impacted by the portafilter's distribution, which makes it harder for the water to plow through the coffee in the filter. Increased repeatability and a more even extraction will result from a more even distribution.
In order to use, unscrew the top of the coffee bed and then adjust the glossy bottom to the desired height. Reattaching the top with screws locks the height. In the portafilter, place the distributor. Rotate and raise. A polished and even surface is ensured by the three arms on the underside.
